Days on a psych ward--not to mention a prison or many a job--trend toward a certain sameness punctuated by terror or emergency or just utter strangeness. Fedigan captures that with this short piece by using repetitive language and incidents (a man with a thumb he bites and then gets locked up for each day), but he builds toward a climax in which things are not quite what one might suppose.
