On "When the Rains Came" by Jonathan Papernick (412 words) ***
Papernick's short piece gave me a short Job moment, wherein I wondered, Why does disaster strike? Here, townspeople wonder exactly that, exactly what they've done wrong in God's sight to cause such a thing. Is there always such a direct corollary?
